🌬️ Blustery winds will howl across the state Thursday. Northwest winds will blow at 15-30 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph to even 50 mph in spots.

🌨️ Snow will develop late Friday night into Saturday with the heaviest falling midday Saturday across central Minnesota. Snowfall totals could be the highest we've seen this winter season yet.

Minnesota House DFL, GOP strike agreement to end stalemate

A standoff that has stretched on for more than three weeks appears to be ending in the Minnesota House. Sources familiar with the agreement said the deal gives Republican Rep. Lisa Demuth the path to become House speaker for the entire two-year term.

Dannah Nephew is Ojibwe from the White Earth Nation. As a third-year student in the program, she wants to help upcoming Native American students feel welcome in an industry she says has a complicated history with tribal communities.
🍸 Minnesota distillery alarmed by now-delayed Canadian tariffs, retaliatory measures. The Princeton-based company exports 5 percent of its products, including vodkas, brandies and liqueurs, to Canada. There, the company's Butter Ripple Schnapps is used in a cocktail named after American actor Burt Reynolds.

🥧 Rattled by politics? Try some sweet potato pie. Rose McGee, the founder of the Twin Cities nonprofit Sweet Potato Comfort Pie, hopes her comfort food will help people connect and have meaningful conversations around hard topics like race.

⛏️ Stauber reintroduces bill to reverse mining ban near Boundary Waters, return leases to Twin Metals. Republican U.S. Rep. Pete Stauber has reintroduced legislation to overturn a 20-year mining ban near the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness that was imposed two years ago under the Biden administration. 

⚖️ Former Anoka County inmate reaches multimillion-dollar settlement with county, medical staff. Under the agreement, the county will pay $2.55 million to Deyonta Green, who was denied his prescribed medication for opioid withdrawal, according to the lawsuit.

📃 Some Venezuelans in Minnesota face uncertainty amid end of 'Temporary Protected Status.' Venezuelans under TPS who received the protections in 2023 will lose their temporary status in April. Some who fled Venezuela and are in Minnesota fear what will happen if they have to go back.

🏛️ What Simon says in House goes, but temporary chamber leader tiptoes through intensely partisan terrain. The Democrat has held public office for two decades and served as the top election official in Minnesota for half of that time. Now he finds himself in the middle of the party power fight in the Minnesota House.

✊ People gather at Minnesota Capitol in nationwide protest against President Trump. Protesters marched to the Capitol from St. Paul College, carrying signs denouncing policies on immigration, LGBTQ+ rights and federal agencies.

🏳️‍⚧️ State lawmaker behind 'trans refuge' law blasts Trump order on trans athletes in school. Rep. Leigh Finke, DFL-St. Paul, says the order is saying that transgender people should not be allowed to be active members of society.

💧 Lino Lakes Correctional Facility gives inmates bottled water after tap water turned brown. This isn't the first time Lino Lakes Correctional Facility has had water problems. In September 2023, the facility also provided bottled water after lead was found in three drinking faucets.  
🎧 Congolese refugee helps other refugees in Minnesota, but nonprofit's future uncertain under Trump. In 2012, Kiloloma Kisongo founded a Minneapolis nonprofit to help other East Congolese refugees find solace in Minnesota. But his organization's future is uncertain due to the Trump administration.

🎧  Trailblazing Minneapolis soccer star honored for contributions to women's sports. College athletics administrator Amy Cooper is one of the honorees of Minnesota's celebration of National Girls & Women in Sports Day 2025.
