March 15, 2022 Minneapolis Public School classes are canceled for a sixth day Tuesday. The Minneapolis district and its educators' union will continue negotiations — one week after union members stopped working over demands that the district raise wages, cap class sizes and pay for more student mental health support. The two sides have made some progress toward compromise, but appear to remain far apart. The district says the union's demands would cost millions of dollars more than it can afford. The union says district representatives did not offer counter proposals Monday. Also on Tuesday, students from various Minneapolis public schools marched from North Community High School to the Minneapolis Public Schools Davis Center to stage a sit-in in support of striking teachers.
