💰 FUTURE OF MINING

How Intel’s Entrance Can Change The Bitcoin Mining Landscape
By Namcios

Intel Corporation, the multinational computer chip manufacturer, is presenting its entry into the bitcoin mining industry at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference on February 23 with a new generation ASIC designed specifically for the event.

However, Intel’s innovation related to the industry is not completely new. Nicolas Mijuskovic, Intel spokesperson, indicated that the company has done design work around SHA-256 optimized ASICs “for several years." Indeed, in 2018, the firm released a patent for a bitcoin mining hardware that would be able to decrease energy use by up to 35% while mining more bitcoin in the process.

The entry of such a giant technology company into the industry could mark a disruptive change, making it more competitive and innovative. The more brains work on ASIC solutions, the more affordable and efficient Bitcoin mining will be for everyone.

💻 TOOLS FOR PRIVACY

Circumventing Surveillance On The Open Internet
By L0la L33tz

Privacy is a fundamental human right and that’s articulated in all of the major international and regional human rights documents. Even though most people nowadays don’t seem to care about it and are willingly giving aways their privacy in exchange of comfort because “they don’t have anything to hide," it is very important to acknowledge why privacy matters.

It might not mean much at the beginning: “If they know everything about everyone, why would they come after me?” Right? Unfortunately, that’s not the case. They will come after you, and everyone else because giving away your privacy to an authority is the same as allowing it to have more power and control over you. At the end, it is information they could and will use against you. The author of this article knows about the importance of privacy and shares a guideline that would enhance our privacy in an  increasingly surveilled open internet.

"Privacy is necessary for an open society in the electronic age." - Eric Hughes, The Cypherpunk Manifesto, 1993.

🌽 FARMERS AND BITCOIN

We Need Our Farmers, Our Farmers Need Bitcoin
By Mike Hobart

In this article, the author describes the actual problem society is facing with its continuously deteriorating physical health and mental health. By digging diving down the rabbit hole, a connection is made between this declining health pattern and poor farming techniques as a result of modern monetary policies.

With the expansion of the monetary supply, there is a need for increasing production, which has led to poor preservation of the soil in order to compensate for the necessary quantity. Nowadays not only are the food processing practices providing poor nutrient density, but the source from which we grow, the soil is lacking 87% of the nutrients and vitamins as those that our grandparents grew up with.

It all comes down to fertilizers and the practices utilized by the industries that are replacing our local farmers.

Our local farmers are the ones who can bring back the nutrients to our food, and bitcoin allows our farmers to store funds that otherwise would have been risked in other forms.

"Bitcoin added to the balance sheets of insurance providers that farmers rely on could help ensure that they will be supported in the face of market chaos. Bitcoin custodied by farmers, and their families, could protect them from fears of any possibilities of bail-ins or account freezes by banks."  - Mike Hobart

MEME OF THE DAY

By Lina Seiche

The European Central Bank tells us that bitcoin is speculative — yet somehow they can't stop themselves "creating money to buy assets" while diluting all of the existing holders of the currency.

The main point of bitcoin is to have money that can't be tampered with. Why would I give value to something as money, if there is a select group of people that can create more out of thin air?
This is why I Bitcoin.

With love,
Bam
