Welcome to the "I've still got to pack for New York so let's make this quick" version of our LSU sports newsletter. While everyone still awaits word of whether or not defensive coordinator Matt House will remain with the program, LSU is giving offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock, the play-caller of the nation's top-ranked offense, a contract extension. One of Denbrock's top players, wide receiver Malik Nabers, is up for the Biletnikoff Award. Some smarty pants columnist (OK, me) says he deserves the award as much as Jayden Daniels deserves the Heisman Trophy. Speaking of Daniels, ESPN's Mel Kiper weighs in with his prediction on where the LSU quarterback could go in the 2024 NFL draft. Meanwhile, the awards keep rolling in for Daniels, who has been named SEC offensive player of the year by the league's coaches. Want to know more about Daniels? How about five things. Finally, the transfer portal continues to churn along, as LSU freshman tight end Jackson McGohan has decided to leave the program. That's all for now, folks. We'll come to you next from New York and the Heisman festivities. Scott Rabalais |
