Classic Flies: the Tomah Jo


CLASSIC FLY EXPERT Fred Klein is back this week with another look at classic fly patterns that are both beautiful and fun to fish. In this case, the pattern also happens to have a unique history related to an indigenous American guide, Tomah Joseph, who personally accompanied the future President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the Maine wilderness.

Tim Flagler demonstrates how to tie a Puterbaugh Caddis Variant in this week's featured tying video. "It’s one of my favorite caddis patterns for fishing broken water where a little extra floatation really helps," says Flagler. "It deviates only slightly from Don Puterbaugh’s original pattern."
