Good evening

T'was the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring ...

Unless, of course, you are on last-minute wrapping duty, preparing food or simply sitting and crying in front of 'It's a wonderful life' - and wishing you could wrap your arms around your family.

No doubt this Christmas is wrapping up to be a strange one, after the strangest of years.

It has been a mixture of frustrating, upsetting and even uplifting as we come to terms with the impact of a pandemic on our lives and wider society.

We have continually been adapting to new rules and regulations, dealing with Covid-19 itself and the destruction and tragedy it has wrought.

But we have also dug deep within ourselves and found generosity and community caring we never even knew we had.

So whether you are working, celebrating or alone this Christmas, remember there is a community around you right here in Lancashire who do care.

Have a happy Christmas in any way you can, even if it's just in the knowledge that although it feels like everything has changed, Lancashire is still here with it's beautiful countryside, fantastic fighting spirit and amazing people.

You have been astonishing this year, continuing to support our local editorial team with our campaigns, series and simply reading the day-to-day news. We appreciate this more than you can know in a difficult media landscape amid Covid.

From me and from the entire team at the Lancashire Post, have a very Happy Christmas.

Don't forget you can email me at [email protected]

Christmas greetings, Nicola

Deputy editor, Lancashire Post
