NATIONAL: HBO has announced Lovecraft Country: Sanctum, a series of exclusive virtual-reality events immersing invited guests into a world inspired by the new Lovecraft Country series. For the 100 people selected, the event series will feature immersive theater, escape rooms, art installations, puzzles, and a live concert via the Oculus Quest headset. LAS VEGAS: AREA15, an experiential art and entertainment complex located close to the Strip, will open on Sept. 17. The unique venue will feature art installations, retail shops, bars and eateries, and 40,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space with more than 800 parking spaces. For now, the venue will require free preregistration and masks to enter, in order to manage capacities during COVID-19. LOS ANGELES: Step Up, a mentorship nonprofit supporting girls on their way to confidence and careers, will be hosting “Step Up Together" on Sept. 10. The virtual event will feature panels from influential women like Debbie Allen of Grey's Anatomy and cover topics such as social justice, mentorship, and leadership. MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau has announced that its chief operating officer, Rolando Aedo, will be joining the Board of Trustees of the Destinations International Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to accrediting destinations globally to advance through innovation and resource incubation. NEW YORK: Vulture's annual Vulture Festival will go virtual from Oct. 26-30. The event will feature a lineup of actors in conversation, table reads, and cast reunions.
