Good morning and thanks for starting your week with us. Here's a look at some of our top headlines. Damming Pearl River: After the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers determined that its old plan to dam the Pearl River in Mississippi to alleviate flooding in the Jackson area wasn't cost effective, it developed a new plan. Known as "Alternative D," critics say the new plan looks pretty much just like the old one. Alex Lubben has the story. Health hub: A new neighborhood market has quietly been taking shape in a metal Central City building at the corner of Jackson and Simon Bolivar avenues. This week, Chef Gary Netter plans to lift the lid on his ambitious new project, which aims to bring fresh, healthy food to the area. Ian McNulty has the details. MakeGood: Their toddler mobility trainers put them in the national spotlight last year, but at MakeGood, the range of products geared toward helping people with disabilities solve daily problems is constantly growing. Marie Fazio explains how the New Orleans-based nonprofit is using open-source design and 3D printing to help people and kids with disabilities. We've got plenty more news, entertainment and sports from The Times-Picayune here. Thanks for reading. Kasey |
