| The reluctant Christian filmmaker who made ‘The Chosen' |
|
| | Dallas Jenkins, creator of "The Chosen," used to think, “I’m not going to be a Christian filmmaker. I’m just going to be a filmmaker who happens to be Christian.” Jenkins has memories of watching Christian movies growing up. “I did remember thinking at the time, why is it that the Christian stuff is always so much worse than the regular stuff?” he told the Deseret News. “The quality level is just so much lower. And I started to think if there could be stories that came from my faith that reflected my experience and my beliefs just like these filmmakers are reflecting theirs, the mainstream filmmakers could really have an impact there.” |

| Utah Rep. John Curtis reopened the door to a run for Sen. Mitt Romney’s U.S. Senate seat on Thursday amid continued pressure from donors and constituents. Curtis had expressed serious interest in running for Senate following Romney’s announcement in September that he would not be seeking reelection, the Deseret News reported. Shortly thereafter Curtis decided a Senate campaign did not align with his “personal priorities.” But now, Utah’s four-term, 3rd District congressman is giving second thought to throwing his hat in the ring in response to the “drumbeat from Utahns around the state asking me to reconsider my decision.” Read more about Rep. Curtis reconsidering a Senate run.
