Meet the Community Spirit Award winners
So far this year, good news has been hard to find. The last month has been dominated with news of COVID-19 and the current lockdown.

If ever there was a need for community spirit, it is now.

Fortunately, as the inaugural ABC Radio Canberra Community Spirit Awards have discovered, there are countless individuals and groups doing incredible things in our community.

The awards, which were announced today across Radio, acknowledge the strength and diversity of our community and recognise those across Canberra who are making a real difference.

Be inspired and check out the stories of our winners below.

You can also hear the stories from all our Community Spirit Award finalists here.

Lish's legendary lockdown competition is Canberra to a TEE!

With school holidays around the corner, you might be looking around and thinking, how can I make this lockdown holiday destination a little less "Groundhog Day"?

To capture the Capital zeitgeist and some of the best lockdown humour while we’re stuck at home, we want your help to design a local lockdown t-shirt. I’d love to see your idea, draft design, slogan, pun or "roadmap" of how we’re going to get through this. Simple or complex, frivolous or thoughtful.

The best of the best ideas will be used to create a lockdown t-shirt designed by iconic Canberra artist Mick Ashley of Leafy Sea Dragon Artwork. Part of the proceeds will be going to HelpingACT who is providing local food relief to those in need across Canberra.

Get your designs or thoughts to us now! Competition closes 5pm Wednesday 15 September.
