| Good morning, and welcome to the Saints Insider newsletter for April 25, 2023. It's two days until draft day, are you a Saints Kinda Guy or Gal? The Saints do have a type. This is Saints college scouting director Jeff Ireland's eighth draft with New Orleans and his 18th overall as an NFL team's chief scout, and he clearly favors some traits more than others. Our columnist, Jeff Duncan, dug into the numbers to find out what truly matters for Ireland and the Saints — while also identifying some of the guys in 2023 that fit the bill. Duncan offers some pretty interesting conclusions, but one that probably bears some watching especially in the next few days: Pittsburgh defensive tackle Calijah Kancey, who has often been linked to the Saints in the pre-draft process, is not a Saints Kinda Guy. And while we're talking about Saints Kinda Guys, allow me to fill you in on one who has been sticking out like a sore thumb while I've worked on my series looking at every position in the lead up to the draft: Iowa linebacker Jack Campbell. Campbell is big (6-4, 249), athletic (9.98 Relative Athletic Score) and was highly productive in college (2023 Butkus Award Winner). I take a look at several of the linebackers in the 2023 class here, but it wouldn't be a surprise if the Saints have Campbell's name circled in red on their draft board. Of course, it is the Saints we're talking about here, so you might want to brush up on the defensive ends and the defensive tackles in this year's class since New Orleans does like to go big in the draft.
