Dennis Fong will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at this year’s Tempest Awards Ceremony, and will speak with David Craddock after the exclusive screening of FPS on Day One of Esports Business Summit.
Dennis Fong is the CEO & Founder of GGWP, an AI-powered moderation platform whose mission is to make gaming safer and more inclusive for everyone. Dennis is also an investor at BITKRAFT Ventures, a venture capital firm with ~$730M in AUM that invests in gaming and web3 startups. Dennis is a serial entrepreneur with $1B in exits of companies he's founded including Xfire, a popular chat client for gamers acquired by MTV/Viacom in 2006.
Dennis is the gamer known as "Thresh" and is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's first professional gamer. After establishing himself a top player online, Dennis competed in Deathmatch '95, widely considered the first professionally run esports event. Winners from 24 regional qualifiers, including two from Europe, were flown to Microsoft's HQ to compete as part of the launch celebration of Windows '95. Dennis emerged victorious in the seminal event, leading to mainstream press coverage including Dennis being featured on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, having a multi-page spread in Rolling Stone magazine, and appearing on the "Good Morning America" television show.
