21 for 21
It's hard to go first.
Often, getting out ahead of the team means confronting challenges without a map. Though finding the solution can be rewarding, the path to get there is full of lots of trial and error. You might get lost along the way.
Putting together this year's curated list of Baltimore's most influential software pros and technologists, called RealLIST Engineers, I found myself with a new respect for those who take the first step. Some of this year's honorees set out to solve problems with product. Others started new organizations to confront social issues facing the tech world. And they didn't just keep going. While they raced out ahead of the pack, their success meant bringing teams along. They cleared the path, then helped others move along it. That second part is important, and it's one I'll be considering long after today.
Start first. Finish together.
