Good morning! We picked out some of yesterday's top reads for you. Check them out.

Argument turns deadly for mechanic

A Baton Rouge mechanic was shot and killed in the Brookstown area, where he had long lived and repaired cars for people. Police believe he was kiled during an argument — possibly over some work he was doing.

We talked to Police Chief Murphy Paul, who was at the scene, about what's going on with the unprecedented number of gun deaths in Baton Rouge and how it's affecting communities like this one.

Judge's racism scandal widens

A Lafayette judge who was caught on video shouting racials slurs is facing mounting pressure to resign. Gov. John Bel Edwards called on her to quit at a news conference yesterday, and her son was removed from the LSU track team's roster.

The judge took an unpaid leave of absence after the video went public.

More big LSU football news

The deluge of news about LSU football didn't let up yesterday:

  • Quarterback Myles Brennan said he had changed his mind and planned to stay in Baton Rouge.
  • Offensive lineman Miles Frazier committed to LSU, despite pursuits by Ohio State and Florida State
  • A third wide receiver, Trey Palmer, entered the transfer portal to leave LSU.

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
