| Migrant Children's Project Newsletter July 2017 If you have used our guidance and resources so far in 2017, please take two minutes to complete our short survey here. Children seeking asylum who joined family from Europe The Migrant Children's Project has updated guidance on assisting children who came to the UK via the Dublin regulation (sometimes referred to as 'Dubs' children) who joined family members here. See our fact sheet for information on their legal needs and what duties local authorities have towards them, both while they are with their families and in case of family breakdown. Read and download the fact sheet here. Education for migrant and refugee children It's the summer holidays! But as long as the summer holidays seem, the new school year is not that far away. We've got some new guidance on access to compulsory education for migrant children, and some free training on offer too. Refugee resettlement There's good news, as the government recommits to the previous government's pledge to resettle up to 20,000 refugees from Syria and the surrounding region by the end of this parliament. But they've gone further, and opened up the resettlement programme to people from Iraq and Palestine and Kurdish minorities as well. Child victims of trafficking: campaign and training The charity ECPAT UK has started a new campaign to demand specialist support for trafficked children. Find out how you can support their campaign to overhaul the system for identifying child victims of trafficking here. Does the law and procedure around trafficking leave you in the dark? You can book a one-off training session delivered by CCLC solicitors here! If you have queries about these or other issues, please contact our advice line on 0207 636 8505 or email [email protected].
