| | Sling TV, Dishs OTT-TV service for cord-cutters, has been helping to blunt the losses coming by way of Dishs core satellite TV business, but its contribution appears to be slowing rapidly, according to MoffettNathanson analyst Craig Moffett. more | WHY THIS MATTERS: Dish no longer breaks out Sling TV subs, but reported Thursday that it lost 281,000 net video subs in Q2, the companys largest quarterly video sub loss ever, and gross subscriber additions were down to 527,000 from 638,000 last year (see story under NEWS, below).

| | PlayStation Vue Adds More Local Live CBS Feeds | | In a clear sign that its talks with broadcast TV station groups outside the O&Os are progressing, Sony PlayStation Vue confirmed that it has extended access to live local CBS feeds in nine more markets. more | | WHY THIS MATTERS: The extensions of CBS live local feeds in select Raycom, Sinclair and Midwest Television markets comes about two months after PlayStation Vue said it was offering the live local feeds of the Big 4 (ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox) in all of their respective owned-and-operated markets. |
| | Fox News Channel Sues Charter Over Carriage Spat | | Fox News Channel is the latest cable network to file suit against Charter Communications, claiming the cable operator is trying to force programmers to accept lower affiliate fees tied to old deals with Time Warner Cable. more | | WHY THIS MATTERS: It is the second such lawsuit filed against Charter in about two weeks, following Spanish-language broadcaster Univision's similar suit in New York, filed July 8, that claims Charter was trying to pay for carriage of its networks under the lower TWC rate following the completion of the two MSOs' merger. |
