| | Comcast is reorganizing some of its top tech and operations management in a series of moves that hint at a new focus on wireless communications. more | WHY THIS MATTERS: About eight months after Comcast notified Verizon Wireless of its intention to invoke its Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) rights under a previous wireless spectrum sale, the MSO has transitioned John Schanz, EVP and chief network officer, and Cathy Avgiris, EVP and cable chief financial officer, to new roles, and promoted Greg Butz, EVP of sales and marketing operations, to head up a new mobile unit, sources said.

| | Survey: 25% of Homes Shun Traditional Pay TV | | A quarter of U.S. TV households have neither a cable nor satellite subscription, with younger people even more likely than the general population to be over-the-air-only viewers, market research firm GfK said. more | | WHY THIS MATTERS: GfK's 2016 Ownership and Trend Report found that the share of U.S. TV households relying on broadcast service rose 2%, to 17% from 15% last year, as did the share of homes that rely on Internet video services only, which grew to 6% from 4% -- both "statistically significant" increases, GfK said. |
