McLaren-Mercedes. Sounds good, doesn’t it? The old one-two that produced two drivers’ world championships for Mika Hakkinen in 1998 and ’99 – plus the ’98 constructors’ title too. Their previous partnership spanned the 1994-2014 seasons, until McLaren jilted Merc power for its Honda and Renault flirtations, and now the old flames are back together. After finishing third in last year’s constructors’ points, switching to what’s (quite rightly) regarded as the strongest engine in the field should bring extra performance to the MCL35 chassis.
