Read to Winston

Susan Durkin and Winston, a Certified Therapy Dog, are looking forward to hearing stories read by YOU! Reading with a certified reading dog helps to build confidence with a safe, nonjudgmental partner. Sign up for a 15-minute appointment and make sure to bring a favorite book or allow time to pick out your just right book at the Library. Perfect for kids in grades K-5.

This program is especially for those starting to read and that want to little extra practice with our special friend, Winston! Please, only register for one time slot.

Pop Up Art School: Cardboard Coral Reef

Tuesday | Sep 24 | 4:00-5:30PM

Dive into creativity! As part of the library's CREW WEEK activities, Pop Up Art leads a craft that transforms recycled materials into a vibrant coral reef. With splashes of colorful paint and crafty bits, kids will bring an underwater scene to life. Recommended for ages 8 and up.



Communities Responding to Extreme Weather or CREW's Climate Prep Week is from September 24-30th. This year's theme is "Reimagining our relationship with the land." In this program, poet and author James Dunn will introduce Harry Crosby in all his guises -Boston Brahmin, WWI Ambulance Driver, Banker, Poet, Publisher of Black Sun Press. Harry Crosby was a champion of many writers of the Lost Generation in Paris, Ezra Pound, DH Lawrence, Ernest Hemingway, James Joyce. We will talk about his intense disdain for Boston while maintaining a sincere affection for his memories of a childhood spent in Manchester at his family summer home, Apple Trees Estate, and at Singing Beach. This program is recommended for adults and is made possible by a collaboration with the Manchester-by-the-Sea Cultural Council.

Join the Teen Advisory Board (TAB)

High school students who join the group will be involved in adding items to the library's collection, promoting special events, planning the annual Haunted Library, and more. (Plus you'll get community service hours and pizza!) For more info contact Tom Russo, the YA librarian.

The Wild Robot Party

Excited for The Wild Robot movie? Love the books? Celebrate them both with games, crafts, and fun at the library! This program is for ages 6-11.

MBTS Zero Waste Challenge Kick Off

Saturday | Sep 21 | 1:00-3:00PM

You can register anytime for the Challenge but those who attend the kickoff event will get some free swag, can find more info on how to divert their trash from the landfill, can create an eco friendly craft and share some mulled cider.

Intro to Saving Seeds

Saving seeds from the plants around us connects us to our roots as ecosystem stewards and challenges us to plan for the next generation. This program is designed for adults.

Touch-a-Truck

Get up close and personal with trucks and other vehicles, thanks to our friends in public works and fire and police departments. No registration necessary!
