| | | | Co-leadership: What does it really mean? Back in June, we spilled the beans about the whole co-leadership thing going on at Common Future and Impact Hub Baltimore. Guess what? Last Friday, I personally hosted a sweet end-of-summer ice cream social, and guess who I bumped into? One of the new co-directors at Impact Hub Baltimore! Hold on to your ice cream cones [which I hope you have since it's very hot today] because today I got this cool email newsletter from Impact Hub Baltimore. It looks like they're throwing a lunch-time meet and greet inviting only the organization's "closest friends" to come and say hi to the new team. Speaking of co-leadership vibes, let's talk about Code In the Schools. It's playing the co-director card too. Its founding director is saying goodbye, and now there are three experienced folks in charge. But here's the twist: The original director at Impact Hub Baltimore is sticking around, and at Code In the Schools, the former big cheese is staying on contract to help with the transition. Now, here's where my curiosity kicks in. Are these leaders a tad hesitant to fully let go of their roles? I mean, it's like they're leaving the door open, right? Impact Hub Baltimore's original director isn't making a complete run for it, and the Code In the School's founder is sort of playing a "here if needed" role. Now, let's talk about post-pandemic pivoting, shall we? It seems like everyone's been doing some gymnastics with their organizations, and honestly, they must personally be pretty exhausted. I can't help but wonder if all these co-leadership shifts and organizations trying this model are really gonna work out. I hope the best for them, though.
Will these new leadership setups be the next big thing, or are we just riding a rollercoaster of change? It's like a game of organizational Jenga, and I'm just here, sipping my seltzer, thinking about what's gonna happen next. What do you think?
