COVID-19 update: City of Wanneroo facilities and services during the current transitional period

Dear City of Wanneroo residents,

Premier Mark McGowan has announced that some COVID restrictions for the Perth and Peel regions have been extended through to 12:01am Saturday 8 May.

As we transition out of lockdown, it is a relief to hear reports that the cases of community transmission have been contained. Therefore, the latest update allows us to re-open the City’s services and facilities with some amendments to operations in line with State Government direction on physical distancing requirements and other COVID health advice.

For the duration of this eased transitional period, masks remain mandatory for indoor public venues, including in the workplace and on public transport, but are not required outside except where physical distancing is not possible. You must also continue to sign in via the SafeWA app so the WA contact tracers can do their job to keep track of any outbreak across the region and the State.

I encourage you to check our website wanneroo.wa.gov.au/covid-19 and Facebook page for the latest updates on what is open and available across the City, including opening hours, capacity caps, and services.

It is important that we observe WA Health Department advice and that we keep in contact with each other to ensure there is support where support is needed.

Facility operations during post-lockdown transition

What’s open?

As of tomorrow, Saturday 1 May until Saturday 8 May, the following services will resume normal operating hours, observing the requirement to wear face masks where applicable, sign in to the SafeWA app or via manual register and comply with the 2sqm social distancing guidelines.

The Customer Service Counter at the Wanneroo Civic Centre (8:30am – 5pm, Monday to Friday) will continue to operate as normal.
Aquamotion and Kingsway Indoor Stadium will reopen, however, the sauna will remain closed. Capacity restrictions apply adhering to the 2sqm rule (with 8 persons maximum capacity in the spa). Masks are not required when swimming or using the spa.
Community Centres have reopened. Capacity restrictions apply adhering to the 2sqm rule.
Sporting Grounds are open for training and spectators are now permitted.
Dog Parks, Skate Parks and Playgrounds remain open.
Yanchep Two Rocks Access Centre (YTRAC) and Girrawheen Hub will continue their standard operating hours.
Libraries have resumed normal opening hours.
Wanneroo Regional Museum will reopen.
Volunteer Bushfire Brigades have resumed normal service.
From Sunday 2 May Heritage Houses will reopen.

From Monday 3 May the following services will reopen and resume normal operating hours:

Youth Outreach
The Community Transport Program will be open for general hire and external hirers.
Public community events will resume, observing social distancing guidelines and the need where required for COVID-19 event plans.
Library programs will resume.
