Biography
Intriguing Paintings by Marion Hedger
Marion's lifelong passion for color and design has shaped her unique and distinctive artistic style. While largely self-taught, her early works were rooted in impressionistic landscapes and florals.
However, after joining Nicholas Wilton's Creative Visionary Path (CVP) program in 2017, Marion embraced a bold, abstract approach that has become the hallmark of her art.
Continuing to evolve, Marion is also a member of Pamela Caughey's Art and Success Pro Success group. Her creative process is a blend of intention and spontaneity, where bold shapes and vibrant colors converge into captivating abstracts. Her work intrigues viewers from a distance, while the intricate details revealed upon closer inspection offer a more intimate engagement. Through layering and texture, she creates visual depth, ensuring that each piece resonates on multiple levels.
"I use color as my language to communicate experiences," she says. "It plays an essential role in setting the mood of my work. I rarely have a preconceived idea when I begin, instead, I start by laying down layers of vibrant paint. As I build, I add texture by scraping, gouging, and sanding to reveal hidden layers beneath. The painting evolves organically, and I stay mindful of the interaction between all the elements, guiding it to its final form. The finishing touches are always deliberate, knowing that these final marks bring everything together. A painting is complete when it captivates from afar and holds attention up close with its rich, detailed surface."
Originally from the UK, Marion now lives in the south of France, near Nice. The vibrant colors of the lavender fields, sunflower meadows, and the contours of the nearby Alps provide endless inspiration, influencing the rich palette and dynamic compositions of her work.
