March Madness has officially arrived, and the LSU basketball teams are in the thick of it. A busy week of postseason action starts at the PMAC Tuesday night when the LSU men host North Texas in a first round NIT game (6 p.m., SEC Network). First-round games in the NCAA Women's Tournament are set for Friday, with Louisville-Middle Tennessee at 12:30 p.m. and LSU-Rice at 3 p.m. (ESPN). With all that in mind, yours truly is back with my annual March Madness A to Z column, an informative (hopefully) and funny (debatable) look at the most enjoyable three weeks of the sports calendar. Not so enjoyable: LSU baseball's weekend trip to Starkville where the Tigers dropped two of three to Mississippi State. LSU coach Jay Johnson spoke Monday and gave an injury update on three key players. LSU softball got off to a surprising 24-0 start, but just as surprising dropped the last two games of its series at Tiger Park to Ole Miss including a 9-2 decision Monday night. We've got a stack of photos for you to check out. The Tigers' gymnastics squad goes into Saturday's SEC Championships at the Smoothie King Center as the No. 1 seed. LSU will compete at 7 p.m. on the SEC Network. The Tigers have also secured a No. 1 seed in their NCAA regional in April. Finally, Reed Darcey has a touching story of a Louisiana woman who got her heart checked out because of Kim Mulkey's heart scare last summer. She says the LSU coach being so open about her story saved her life. That's all for today, everyone. Fill out those brackets and we'll see you next time. Scott Rabalais |
