THE MALAISE: Satisfaction with life in New Orleans has plummeted to a level not seen since the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the peak of the 1990s crime surge, according to a new poll from the University of New Orleans. Only 44% of respondents say they are happy with their quality of life, and only 31% approve of Mayor LaToya Cantrell’s job performance. In Jefferson Parish, quality of life perceptions are down, but only slightly, and leaders such as Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng and Sheriff Joe Lopinto III remain popular.
