Happy New Year! I know it's a little late in the month, but I truly want to wish all of you an utterly fantastic 2023. Hopefully by now you've gotten past the deluge of work that seems to accompany the first few weeks of the year when we're all catching up after the holidays and you're ready to focus in on what you want for your practice in 2023. This month I'm featuring some resources to help you do that: More of my videos on productivity, and specifically on how to plan for this year As always, I'm looking for your feedback. I'd love to get your comments on the videos, my columns, or ideas you have for future articles or newsletters. Let me know what you're thinking! Email me at [email protected]. |

| | Do This Instead of Making New Year's Resolutions |
What is your New Year's resolution? New Year's resolutions put too much pressure on people to come up with a big, lofty goal when most people don't follow through. This year, instead, think about the small steps you can take to reach your goals. This video gives you three small steps you can take now. Watch the video right here or check it out - with its accompanying text- on the Lawyer Meltdown site: Do This Instead of Making New Year's Resolutions. Check out my YouTube Playlist on productivity for more videos. | | The current issue of the American Bar Association's Law Practice Division's Law Practice magazine is the TECHSHOW issue. If you registered for TECHSHOW yet, you can do so at techshow.com - this year it's the first week in March. My column this month is Preventing Digital Burnout. If you attend TECHSHOW this year, please look for me - I'll be speaking at two separate sessions and I'd love to see you! Although it came out in October, it bears mentioning here, since now it actually is 2023: I wrote an article for the New York State Bar Journal on What to Do on LinkedIn in 2023. |
Just Released! New Edition! | Exciting news! The Second Edition of How to Do More in Less Time: The Complete Guide to Increasing Your Productivity and Improving Your Bottom Line, which I co-authored with Daniel J. Siegel, is now available from the American Bar Association. When we started writing the new edition, we thought it would be an easy task, but we found that even though the concepts in the book are evergreen, there was a lot of updating that we needed to do to be in line with the way lawyers practice today. And we added material on videoconferencing, working from home and more. If you pick up a copy, I'd love to hear what you think about it |

Make LinkedIn Work for You | | My friend and colleague, Dennis Kennedy and I are proud to announce that our book, Make LinkedIn Work for You, A Practical Handbook for Lawyers and Other Legal Professionals is now available. The book is an adaptation of all of our previous work on LinkedIn, from webinars and presentations to articles and books. This book is different from what we've done before in that we published direct to Kindle first, and the book contains no screenshots. |
