I was out in the woods in Veazie with a pre-Kindergarten class a few weeks ago for my recent story about how the state’s flawed school funding formula is threatening Maine’s pre-K goals. This class is nature-based. So, my reporting actually looked like me in the mud with a bunch of 4-year-olds as they splashed around and made “strawberry and banana” flavored mud cakes. At one point, one of the students offered me the tiniest pinecones to commemorate my visit with his class. It was easily some of the most fun I have had in the field reporting. — Sawyer Loftus | |
