What we're reading — Maine Gov. Janet Mills, Rep. Jared Golden of the 2nd District and Sen. Angus King will give past donations from Eliot Cutler to charity after Cutler's arrest on child pornography charges. Mills and Golden, both Democrats, said they would donate to the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault, while King said he would give to a charity after documenting his full amount of donations from Cutler, whom King endorsed for governor in 2010 and 2014. — A judge on Monday barred public access to records of the case against Cutler in a Hancock County court after a request from the former gubernatorial candidate's lawyer. Cutler is due in court on May 3. — Those in charge of the Belfast potato processor destroyed by fire on Thursday are meeting with local officials today to discuss rebuilding. The company, Penobscot McCrum, which employs 138 people in the city, is not sure yet if it will try to rebuild in the same riverfront location. — Rep. Ted Kryzak, R-Acton, died at 66 on Saturday. He was first elected in 2018, having previously been a selectman in his town. Kryzak served on the Legislature’s tax committee and the redistricting commission last fall. |
