For someone like me who does no social media and is not addicted to online sites, Hyperallergic stands out.

I check it out daily for its coverage of the parts of the art world I still care about, because I know Hyperallergic will be on it. Those “parts” consist not only of good, interesting art but also news coverage of institutional revelations and refusals (especially concerning the Middle East and immigration these days); activist-artists demonstrating for and against the strangeness of our current world, and work by marginalized artists like women and people of color that doesn’t always conform to the demands of a market that increasingly defines what is and isn’t shown in museums and galleries.

Hyperallergic writers are smart and politicized, knowledgeable about context as well as art history. Plus, the site provides information about community and educational opportunities ... You get the drift. Subscribe!
