Voters overwhelmingly approve new school district creation in Utah County
With Tuesdayâs passage of Prop 11, voters in northern Utah County overwhelmingly approved the creation of a new school district. The new district will serve Alpine, American Fork, Cedar Hills, Draper (Utah County portion), Highland, and Lehi students. The new school district will become Utahâs sixth largest, serving approximately 35,978 students with 34 school buildings and six district facilities. In addition to the passage of Prop 11, voters in Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain also approved Prop 14 to create a new school district in northwestern Utah County. (Read More)
Salt Lake County Zoo, Arts & Parks (ZAP) initiative reauthorized for fourth time
As in previous years, Salt Lake County residents voted to reauthorize the Zoo, Arts & Parks (ZAP) tax. As of 11 AM Wednesday, it had received 79 percent of the vote. This marks the fourth ZAP reauthorization by voters. ZAP was initially authorized in 1996, received 71 percent of the vote in 2004, and voter approval grew to 77 percent in 2014. (Read More)
