LSU v.s. Southern: A long-awaited gameday

Matthew Albright | Assistant metro editor

Some people have waited a long time for today. Southern is playing at LSU for the first time, putting two beloved football teams — and marching bands — in the same building, along with more than 100,000 of their ardent fans.

We talked to several prominent people connected to both programs about what makes this event so special. And we also have a guide to the logistics of navigating a packed campus, from traffic to parking to tickets to tailgating.

Here's what we know about the event, and the current state of the race.

There is a push in Louisiana to get into carbon capture. It's a process by which carbon gas is gathered up and pumped underground, so it doesn't get up into the atmosphere and worsen global warming. But some environmentalists think it's more of a gimmick than a real solution.

Now the practice is running into roadblocks at the local government level, as would-be neighbors of the storage sites raise safety questions. Here's a look at how one local parish is grappling with the issue.
