You've heard of a quick nine in golf? Well, we've got some golf for you in this quick four of an LSU newsletter. We only have one, as Samuel L. Jackson said in "Pulp Fiction," "According to Hoyle" LSU story for you in today's newsletter. That's our Wilson Alexander's take on where LSU's offensive depth chart stands going into Saturday's spring game. There are a lot of gaps to fill because of injuries, but Mr. Alexander has an inventive mind and knows his way around a roster. See if you agree or disagree with his assessments. That earlier golf analogy wasn't for nothing. The rest of our newsletter is golf-centric, so if you're not a golf fan we'll open a window at this point and let you climb out. All this golf stuff is previewing the Zurich Classic, which begins Thursday at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, and the link (thankfully) is former LSU All-American Sam Burns. Another former Tiger, Ben Taylor, is also in the field. Taylor is the answer to a pretty good trivia question, but we'll come back to that later. Leading up to the Zurich we have a story on the defending champs, Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele. I've got a column on what the future holds for tournaments like the Zurich with the PGA Tour set to drastically change its schedule in 2024. And we have news and notes from the course as well for you to dive into. Well, that's all we have for you today, except the answer to that Ben Taylor trivia question: Taylor sank the clinching putt when LSU beat USC in the match play final for the 2015 NCAA championship. Thanks a lot sports fans. You are the clinching putt to our final green. Until next time, Scott Rabalais |
