On a day one of the NCAA Tournament when upsets and near upsets of No. 1 seeds abounded, the LSU Tigers wouldn't allow themselves to fall victim in their own house. With power pitching from Anthony Eyanson and power hitting from Daniel Dickinson, the Tigers rolled to a methodical 7-0 victory over Little Rock after a 5-1/2 hour weather delay Friday night in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional at Alex Box Stadium. What's next? LSU will play at 8 p.m. Saturday against regional No. 2 seed Dallas Baptist at 8 p.m. DBU beat No. 3 Rhode Island 6-2 in a game that started about 11 p.m. and ended not long before 2 a.m. As I wrote in my column, when the Tigers get that potent blend of great starting pitching and home run hitting, they are going to be tough for anyone to beat. Meanwhile, the weather was almost as big a story as LSU's victory. Reed Darcey has the details of what led to the painfully long hold in the count for an LSU-Little Rock game that was supposed to start at 2 p.m. and didn't get under way until 7:36 p.m. Finally, our Toyloy Brown has all the latest results for LSU track and field on Day 3 of the NCAA East Regional.
