Wednesday was what we call in the news business a "fast" day regarding LSU sports. Topping the list was the introductory news conference for new men's basketball coach Matt McMahon. He made it clear he isn't worried about looming NCAA sanctions against the program, and that he has faith in himself and LSU to build a winner. Thursday marks the start of spring football and we have a slew of stories. New coach Brian Kelly spoke of LSU's crowded quarterback room, star receiver Kayshon Boutte's status with the team, where veteran running back John Emery's status is and his support of assistant coach Frank Wilson in the face of sexual harassment allegations. We also have a look at the spring roster. At Alex Box Stadium, another frustrating loss for the LSU baseball team, which blew a two-run lead in the ninth to fall 7-6 to Louisiana Tech in 12 innings. Meanwhile, catcher Tyler McManus is trying to find his swing after a rough start. No frustrations at Tiger Park for pitcher Ali Kilponen and LSU's softball team against Nicholls State. And there are All-SEC honors for two Tiger gymnasts as LSU prepares for NCAA competition. That's enough to keep you engrossed while we prepare to bring you the next cycle of LSU sports stories. FINALLY: HERE’S A GREAT DEAL Baseball, basketball, gymnastics, track, softball, beach volleyball, football … folks, springtime is busy time at LSU. No one covers the Tigers like we do. We will keep you up to date on the latest news on campus (and elsewhere). Our sportswriters are insightful, hard-working and generally nice people (most of the time).
