| The early signing period has come and gone. In that time, LSU grabbed 13 high school players and one important transfer — FIU offensive tackle Miles Frazier, who will have three years left to play. What's next? Bring in more players, of course. Brian Kelly will have the traditional February signing period, of course, and Kelly will likely be inclined to load up on other players from the transfer portal. As for this year's team and that Texas Bowl game against Kansas State: Don't expect Myles Brennan to step in and play. Brennan announced this week he will return to LSU after a turn through the transfer portal. On Friday, he said he intends to sit out the bowl and start fresh next season. By the way: If you're an LSU fan, you haven't seen the last of Max Johnson. He's headed to Texas A&M. Good times ahead. On to basketball. Will Wade and his undefeated team are in Shreveport for a neutral-site game against Louisiana Tech. The Tigers' top priority: Slowing down the Bulldogs' big man, Kenny Lofton Jr., the 6-foot-7, 275-pounder who shredded LSU for 17 points and 12 rebounds in just 25 minutes last season. Kim Mulkey and her team picked up a game with Bradley at noon Saturday. The Tigers are coming off back-to-back wins against SWAC teams, but Mulkey continues to urge her players to keep their feet on the gas. Finally: It's bowl season.
