LSU's players danced in the locker room after they beat Mississippi State over the weekend. They hadn't played a perfect game, but they did enough to win their Southeastern Conference opener. Did you feel as good about the win? Maybe not with the way Mississippi State almost came back to beat LSU for the second straight season. But that's the thing — LSU's defensive strategy didn't leave the Bulldogs enough time as they were forced to complete lengthy drives. Our film review Sunday began with a second look at the defensive scheme that finally stopped the Air Raid. Then we examined the offense, which leaned on explosive plays without being able to sustain long drives, before analyzing the running game, which once again struggled. We also took an early glance at LSU's next opponent, No. 22 Auburn. Auburn barely beat Georgia State at home over the weekend, escaping on a fourth-down touchdown throw by none other than former LSU quarterback T.J. Finley. Will Finley start inside Tiger Stadium? Coach Bryan Harsin hasn't said. That'll be something to track ahead of the prime time game. Until next time, Wilson Alexander |
