Not the best weekend for Louisiana football. The Saints lost Sunday in similar fashion to LSU, wasting a two-score lead in the fourth quarter. As our colleagues covered the game, we re-watched LSU's loss to Auburn, as we do every Sunday here. The second viewing of the game showed just how much three major themes — an inability to run the ball, LSU's trouble maintaining offensive tempo and Bo Nix's elusiveness — contributed to the loss. Two of those problems have followed LSU throughout the season. The Tigers struggled to run the ball since the first game, now averaging 70.60 yards rushing, and their offensive tempo hasn't been consistent. Combined, the issues prevented LSU from stretching its lead further or sustaining drives when it needed to in the fourth quarter. And as Nix directed a comeback on the other side, LSU lost to Auburn inside Tiger Stadium for the first time since 1999. It won't be a pleasant "Tell the Truth Monday" at LSU's facility. As the Tigers review the film themselves, they'll begin preparing for Kentucky, which is undefeated and ranked No. 16 after beating Florida over the weekend.
