Summer themes: Baseball, pools and electricity

Gov. Jeff Landry says the state needs to rethink how it regulates utilities so ratepayers don’t end up paying for infrastructure improvements to meet the rising electricity needs of companies and industrial power users.

Landry said Monday that utility regulation, and the potentially billions of dollars of new power sources that could be needed in the coming years, is an issue that “keeps him up at night.”

LSU takes down Little Rock! With a final score Monday night of 10-6, the Tigers survived a regional that became an all-out war.

No. 1 LSU had to avenge Sunday's 10-4 loss against No. 4 Little Rock. The Tigers now go on to host West Virginia in the super regional next weekend.

And now Dixie Landin' has closed. Blue Bayou Waterpark and now Dixie Landin' Theme Park have once again closed for the summer.

Dixie Landin' announced Monday that it had closed for the year, just over a week after it had opened for the summer. The move comes two weeks after the adjacent Blue Bayou Water Park announced it will not open for the summer.
