Ed Orgeron continued to look for answers to the LSU football team's offensive woes first this Monday morning when he sat down with his coaching staff. Together, the group looked for ways to put their offense in better positions to make plays, which was the theme after the Tigers' overtime loss to Arkansas on Saturday night. Citing a need to call better plays and execute those plays, Orgeron said it was the "same old story" that's holding his team back and produced a third consecutive loss — a first for him since he became head coach in 2016. Orgeron also noted that Max Johnson will continue to be the starting quarterback even though freshman Garrett Nussmeier got the opportunity to play the final 3½ quarters and overtime against Arkansas. In other news, Orgeron noted that left tackle Cam Wire would miss the team's final two games with an injury that kept him out of Saturday's game and the Nov. 27 regular-season finale against Texas A&M will kick off at 6 p.m. Also, A&M coach Jimbo Fisher, considered to be a top candidate to replace the outgoing Orgeron, made it clear during his news conference in College Station on Monday that he isn't planning on going anywhere. His reasoning is he's assembled perhaps the nation's top recruiting class for 2022 and it wouldn't make sense to go somewhere else and try to beat them. Later Monday, the LSU men's basketball team came on strong on both ends of the floor to overpower Liberty 74-58 and move to 3-0 on the young season. As always, thanks for reading.
