As we slide into the long weekend, let's take a look at some of the latest headlines. 


'We know how promising her future is'

LSU's track and field coach offered words of encouragement for alumna Sha'Carri Richardson after hearing she wouldn't get to compete in the Olympic 100-meter dash because of testing positive for cannabis. 

"We will miss her representing Team USA and LSU on the Olympic stage this July in the 100 meters," Dennis Shaver said, "but we know how promising her future is."

According to a detective, that's how the former Louisiana State Police head described the actions of troopers who beat Ronald Greene during a traffic stop that ended with his death.
