What’s open on Mackinac Island this winter: Popular restaurants, cozy inns, pizza shop

The last of the rocking chairs have been brought in from Grand Hotel’s iconic front porch. Across the island on the sunrise side, Mission Point Resort has buttoned up its guest rooms for the season. The last Rum Runner has been poured at the Pink Pony and Fort Mackinac’s cannons have fallen silent. But November is not the end of Mackinac Island visits for those in the know. Be one in the know. 

Roll out the dock

Speaking of Mackinac, here's some cool news, a historic island lighthouse in the Straits of Mackinac will be more accessible with the installation of a new roll-out dock extension.

Now this looks lovely. A weekend of “unique holiday experiences” is on tap at popular Ludington bed and breakfasts next month. Three bed and breakfast spots are participating in the “Miracle on Ludington Avenue” event Dec. 8-10 in Ludington.

Traverse City is the place to be on Nov. 18

Traverse City is kicking off its holiday cheer this month with a downtown Light Parade, a Christmas Tree Lighting and sneak peek at Santa’s House where the big man himself will be ready to listen to the little ones’ under-the-tree wishes.
