It's officially summer!

If you have been waiting for the season known for sunnier days, memorable trips to the local ice cream shop and taking a dip in the pool or lake to beat the heat, you're in luck. Today is the summer solstice, or the official start of summer. Take a trip to the beach, catch a beautiful sunset along Lake Michigan and jam to live music during Ludington's signature Sunset Bonfires. The free event runs from 8-10 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month, June-August, at Stearns Park Beach. 

Strolling into Canada

The  Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge is usually closed to foot traffic, but here's your chance to take a trek into Canada during the annual walk. Take in spectacular views of the twin Saults, the St. Marys River rapids, and the Soo Locks during the three mile walk that starts in Michigan and ends in Canada on Saturday, June 29. 

Hiking Up North

Hiking a new-to-you trail might be on your summer adventure bucket list. While planning your next trip, consider heading Up North to the Arboretum Trail located Manistee National Forest near Wellston in Manistee County. The 0.84-mile trail shows off a 1940s tree-growing experiment with more than 30 tree species from around the world.
