Winter begins with an exciting first snow, unexpected but so often in October. She is welcomed as holiday accoutrement in December. She is the muse of January art. But it is in February, when the build up of ice upon ice mirrors the build up of spring angst in our hearts, that we truly come face-to-face with the meaning of winter.
