4 secluded U.P. waterfalls to chase now as spring waterfall season arrives early

Now that a new spring season is underway, it's time to get outside and start exploring Mother Nature. Early rains and melting snow have recharged streams and rivers, and the Upper Peninsula's waterfalls are springing back to life. Keweenaw County’s glacier-carved terrain is home to countless waterfalls in all sizes, but some tend to remain off the beaten path. From Hungarian Falls near Lake Linden to the O Kun De Kun Falls south of Houghton, check out these four secluded waterfalls in the U.P.

Take in nature's beauty while lending a helping hand near  Tahquamenon Falls. Andrus Lake State Forest Campground is looking for volunteer hosts for its busy summer season. The rustic campground has great opportunities for fishing and paddlesports, according to Michigan Department of Resources. 

Blast from the past

Just north of Grand Rapids, Archival Brewing is recreating a beer from the past using an ancient technique to age their brew. Brewery owner Levi Knoll and lead brewer Jake Steele are reviving a Scottish heather ale recipe from the Neolithic era that was long thought to be extinct. They've named the beer "Take it to the Grave" after Scottish folklore about the ancient brew.
