Learn to ice fish this year ... from the pros!

An ice fishing class is happening this month at an Up North state park, with more scheduled for February. A one-day ice fishing clinic will be held Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Carl T. Johnson Hunting and Fishing Center at Mitchell State Park in Cadillac. The class includes a hands-on ice fishing experience and covers everything from how to set up; how, when and where to fish; ice safety; and regulations. Get your panfish on!

This might be one of the most magical outdoor activities available in all of Michigan: lantern-lit snowshoe hikes in the U.P.! Mt. Bohemia in the U.P.’s Keweenaw Peninsula is hosting lantern-lit snowshoe hikes this winter. The hikes will be held on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. beginning Jan. 12.
