Border watch: The Louisiana National Guard soldiers who were deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border this week have spent most of their time sitting, watching, and waiting, James Finn reports, after increased presence at the border and the Mexican government crackdowns have caused border activity to ebb. Constitution rewrite: The Legislature will consider a plan to rework the constitution in a series of hearings starting Tuesday, Tyler Bridges reports. The plan, which comes from a panel convened by Gov. Jeff Landry, would see lawmakers and 27 other delegates suggest these changes. Ten Commandments: After the state House last week passed a bill to require K-12 schools to post the Ten Commandments in classrooms, critics vowed to litigate the measure if it becomes law, Patrick Wall reports. They say the bill ignores the U.S. Constitution, which demands a separation of church and state. |
