Louisiana hasn't had drafted a new constitution since 1974. What's next for Gov. Landry's plan?

It's been half a century since Louisiana's lawmakers drafted a new constitution for the state. Gov. Jeff Landry's effort for a rewrite ran into a buzzsaw of complaints during its first public airing Tuesday, with Democrats and one Republican on a House committee expressing concerns that the governor is moving too fast. A Louisiana Senate Committee voted Tuesday to strike nitrogen gas suffocation from the state's list of approved execution methods, reversing one of the governor's tough-on-crime priorities. Read more.
