Louisiana cops shielded by "unheard of" protections: Louisiana police officers enjoy the broadest set of protections offered anywhere in the country and are sometimes shielded from administrative discipline even when there’s clear misconduct. This often allows abusive cops to keep their jobs, as Joseph Cranney reports. St. Charles sues FEMA: St. Charles Parish has filed suit against FEMA over its controversial new system for setting flood insurance rates. The parish says the agency has failed to respond to public records requests related to how it is calculating premiums, which are skyrocketing across south Louisiana. Mike Smith has the story. Tragedy in Mid-City: A mother was shot and killed as her car left a gas station near Mid-City Tuesday while her 1-year-old child sat in the back seat.
