This month, Matt Stromberg and I put together a list of shows — both online and by appointment — worth checking out. From never-before-shown drawings by Robert Colescott to a surprisingly moving show about teacups, there should be plenty to nourish your mind and soul. Some exciting news: the Getty just announced the exhibitions for its upcoming Pacific Standard Time initiative, which has been supporting thematic exhibitions across Southern California since 2011. The upcoming theme will be science and art, and institutions have gone above and beyond with their ideas. A cool fact: many scientists, physicists, chemists, and astronomers are actively participating in the exhibitions. At home and in need of a distraction? Find some inspiration in these 80 artists and illustrators who’ve made fun mail art during the pandemic, and perhaps make your own.– Elisa Wouk Almino, Senior Editor | |

This month’s art picks are in!Navigate a virtual spiral staircase, bask among outdoor blowup sculptures, listen to a 20-minute orchestral soundscape, and learn about an artist’s relationship to prosthetics. This is just a sample of what’s in store this month. |
