Last week, Hyperallergic looked through the now-public loan data from the Paycheck Protection Program and highlighted which museums, art galleries, and artist studios received loans in both Los Angeles and New York City. Matt Stromberg writes, "The program has come under fire [...] as critics attack what they see as uneven, or even corrupt, distribution of aid, with larger companies receiving sizable sums as smaller ones struggled to qualify." Stromberg breaks down how federal funds were allocated in the Southland. It's been a real pleasure speaking with graduating MFA students across California these past couple of months. I was curious what the experience was like for them to adapt their work to a virtual setting, and I wanted the chance to look at their thesis projects when travel is not an option.
