| Coming 2 America Is Coming to the Super Bowl | | | | Hello and happy Friday! We have a couple updates for you today ahead of the final storm brewing for next week. To put into perspective just how many brands we're waiting on: Most years, there are between 50-60 brands in the game. Adweek has reported about 30 brands in the game, and there have only been six full ads released (you can watch them all here in this nifty video gallery). Buckle up. Coming 2 America Is Coming to the Super Bowl Between the fact that movie trailers haven't had a huge presence in the game the last few years, and that in-theater releases keep getting delayed because of the pandemic, we were skeptical we would see many movie trailers in the Super Bowl. Well, we have at least one. Amazon Studios is bringing Coming 2 America to the Super Bowl. The tw0-minute trailer, which you can watch here, will be cut down to one minute. After a decade in the game, Kia sits out. For years, Kia has delivered funny, celebrity-driven spots. In 2019, the brand made an abrupt shift in tone. Instead of spending millions on a celebrity, the brand decided to spend millions on a scholarship each year (while still spending $5+ million on an ad to talk about said sponsorship). This year, the brand is sitting out altogether to focus on its Great Unknowns Scholarship. Kia will announce more details about its plans next week. The Big Game Summit On Thursday next week, we're hosting our first Big Game Summit with our partner USA Today and its legendary Ad Meter. You can hear from some of the brightest minds in Super Bowl marketing at Pepsi, ViacomCBS, Rocket Mortgage—and just confirmed today, Super Bowl champion wide receiver Torrey Smith. The event is free to attend—register here. | | | |
